I read the next part and this part was a little shorter, but that doesn’t mean that nothing happened. It starts off with Robert still selling his drugs like last time, however, he is now in his sophomore year. The reason this is important is that he has settled into his role at the school and he knows he cannot be expelled. This is because Yale has to uphold their image of being racially diverse. This idea still doesn’t put his friends who share his room feel any after. And honestly, I have to agree with them. Robert is the kid who thinks he is so cool he is invincible when really he is like the kid who never helps on the group project.

A plot point that continues is his being recruited by those secret societies. The thing that is the most shocking is that he is excepted, although he has the brains he doesn’t have the background. All of the kids in these cool secret societies come from rich white parents, so to have a lower-class black kid in the secret society was shocking to everyone in the book. Once Robert truly gets in we learn its just a punch of smart frat boys who drink a lot. Now when I heard secret society I was thinking this

I was thinking cool and mysterious, instead, we got something more like this.

Overall the story is becoming just much more methodical about his life, with many ideas of racial problems and crimes being spread throughout the story. This is best seen through all of the ways Robert has escaped getting caught selling drugs and the idea of him even starting in the first place. The problem that got him started was that he was surrounded by it at a young age, so he thought that was what he was going to do. I am shocked we haven’t met someone who seems bad enough to kill Robert yet but since I’m a little over halfway my guess is things start to go really good then it takes a sharp left turn.
This book seems really interesting and one that would keep you on your feet. I’m glad this is something you enjoy reading. It is interesting how the things you think in your head is something completely different in the book. I hope the last half of the book continues to be good.
I’m intrigued, Joe. This sounds like a fascinating book, even though you didn’t get what you thought you would. Is this Robert fellow just a drug dealer or is he also a part of something more extensive like a gang or perhaps in the mafia, and that’s why he’s being recruited? Also, is he making poor decisions about what he’s picking (Apart from the obvious drug dealing)? And perchance could you give me a rating of the book so far 1-10?
He is just a drug dealer from what I can tell, he is doing it for some money. He is staying away from the gangs and mobs for now, and I hope for the remainder of this book. Also, the only other poor choice that I can see is that he is just kind of wasting his time and his chances at a good life by surrounding himself with people who will only hurt him. Overall I think this book is a solid 7, the beginning is very interesting but the middle part is a little more long. I hope that this book speeds up a little but still this book is a great read.
